There is an open Pavilion with picnic tables and a toilet facility. This is a wonderful place to sit and have a picnic and view the Bay of Green Bay. Many people get lunch or coffee from the nearby Burger King Hwy 41 & Sunset Beach Road and enjoy it at the park.
Lovely spot overlooking Green Bay, with nice waterfront homes and properties to each side. Pavilion has 3 picnic tables and garbage can.
Directly behind the park to the West is Sensiba state wildlife area with trail access from Sunset Beach Park. To the south is Barkhausen Wildlife Preserve. Also to the South is Longtail Peninsula. All of these places are premier bird-watching areas. You can see all kinds of wild birds including pelicans, cormorant, bald eagle, many varieties of crane, kinfisher, huge variety of duck, etc.
The park provides access to the Bay for canoes and kayaks. The water at the park's beach is shallow with a sandy Bottom. The water is usually warmer than other parts of the Bay or Lake Michigan in the summertime.
Sunset Beach Park is a lovely public park with rare public access to the west side of the Bay of Green Bay. People enjoy all kinds of Silent Sports including swimming, canoeing, kayaking, kitesurfing, and other sports.
The park is clean and safe and is mostly visited by families and local people.
Lot was donated by a former property owner for all to enjoy. Excellent place to launch a kayak or small boat for free if u are looking to go up the suamico river. Not dock tho. Pavilion on site with tables.
Nice view. Not the best access to the water, nor would you want to swim in it. Would be nice for a small picnic but no play sets or swings. Very basic park.
Also, the reforestation camp and Zoo are within a 15 minute drive.
Sunset Beach Park in Suamico is a true Treasure of a park and a gigantic asset to Suamico and Green Bay Area.
The park provides an excellent place to view sunrise over the bay.
There are several restaurants in the Suamico area that are worth visiting.
